Inbound Transportation Planner
The position will be within the North America Supply Chain organization for a growing global agricultural equipment manufacturing company. The scope of this position will encompass the planning and execution of all shipments to AGCO's North American sites.
The individual will coordinate and support North America transportation activities to achieve cost and service effective results. Assignments will require a close and effective working relationship with a broad range of people such as distribution operations, customer service, sales, IT, vendors and carriers.
Function and Responsibilities
:Develop and coordinate the tactical transportation plans for multiple manufacturing, parts and port facilities.
:Responsible for inbound transportation processes: scheduling, on:time deliveries, trailer/equipment availability, customer service notifications, communications to carriers, internal customers, management, etc. Tender freight to carriers and manage transportation events to ensure customer satisfaction.
:Enhance carrier utilization while maintaining requirements for service and on time deliveries.
:Interface with material resource planners/inbound logistics specialists, manufacturing personnel, customer service representatives and common carrier, and external vendors and partners.
:Understand freight bill payments and assist Accounts Payable and freight payment companies in resolution and corrective action.
:Responsible for Freight Claim document retrieval, internal, and external communication related to freight claims.
:Responsible for data entry (Descartes), database maintenance and other applicable data related functions.
:Maintenance of contact lists and other administrative items, as required.
:Create and maintain SOP's associated with all processes.
:Provide input on continuous improvement and excellence around cost/service expectations
:Proactively develop, recommend and implement minimum 50k annual cost savings and/or service improvements in support of the transportation strategy developed by the NA Logistics.
:Analysis of all variables that go into making optimal routing and carrier selections.
:Responsible for daily tracking and tracing reports as identified by management
:Develop and generate daily, weekly and monthly reports.
:Support Manufacturing, Parts and Port site activities.
:Support team on adhoc activities and act as a back up to support vacation time
:Manage shipments inbound to AGCO Facilities ensuring on time delivery for production needs.
:Manage expedite shipments to keep production lines running on time.
:Department Inbound Annual Freight Spend 34m.
:Manage approximately 1500 suppliers.
:Maintaining carrier relationships to ensure on time delivery of parts to keep lines running.
:Daily tasks include but are not limited to : rating shipments in transportation management system, tracking inbound packages and shipments, filling freight claims for missing or damaged good, communicating with brokers and carriers on the needs of AGCO for the parts, evaluating patterns and tendencies of suppliers to find costs savings in the transportation of those parts.
:Minimum of 3:5 years of experience within the following activities: Experience with transportation planning software, load optimization tools, traffic exchange and/or load boards.
:Knowledge of other decision support techniques is a plus.
:Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a timely manner.
:Ability to work well under pressure and provide follow:up with strong attention to detail.
:Available to work with flexible hours and duties.
:Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Operations Management or related field or equivalent experience.
:Proficiency with PC (Microsoft Office Suite) and web based software.
:Analyzing economics of various options based on numerical data and contract
