Department: Materials Management/Sterile Processing Position Summary: The Distribution Clerks are responsible for checking par levels on the Nursing units, delivery of stock and non stock supplies to all departments, putting away stock received, inventory & storeroom maintenance. The Distribution Clerks report to the MM/CS Supervisor and the Materials Manager. General Duties: 1. Works closely with Supervisor to assure work is completed in a timely manner 2. Uses ESI program for supply distribution & inventory management 3. Eyeballs storeroom daily, tidies up shelves and reports depleted or low supplies 4. Communicates with Receiving staff concerning products that are needed ASAP 5. Re-distributes supplies on Nursing Units during shortages; assures adequate product remains in storeroom for OR use 6. Scans, pulls & delivers par level products to Nursing units as scheduled 7. Maintains hand held units 8. Maintains Nursing storerooms so they are neat, clean & organized; rotates stock & removes outdated supplies; makes suggestions for changes to the Nurse Manager 9. Reports unusual usage or requests for supplies to Supervisor and/or Buyer. 10. Pulls and delivers medical and non medical supplies to departments daily 11. Updates department requisitions and Nursing forms every 6 months and makes adjustments when needed 12. Pulls & delivers STAT or ASAP requests in a timely manner 13. Puts away stock daily, assures correct inventory, rotates stock and makes inventory adjustments as necessary 14. Maintains an accurate perpetual inventory of products by doing inventory of about 4 shelves a week and individual products as needed; makes inventory adjustments as necessary and issues outdated, damaged or obsolete stock to 1834 15. Maintains MM storerooms so they are neat, clean & organized; makes suggestions for changes as product usage changes 16. Checks for supplies that will outdate & discusses low use items with Supervisor about 30 days before outdate; removes outdated stock from shelves 17. Checks & fills exchange cart for OR and delivers on Monday & Friday to SSU 18. Maintains disaster cart; rotates stock & removes outdated product at least quarterly 19. Solves immediate problems & proactively works to prevent re-occurrence 20. Assists with other duties in the department as time permits 21. Assures that tasks are complete & work area is neat/clean before leaving 22. Promotes safety and uses safe practices 23. Supports & models 5-star service 24. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager. 25. Participates in ongoing and annual education activities and departmental meetings. Acountabilities: 1. Policy and Procedure: Follow hospital-wide and departmental policies and procedures, follow personnel policies, be accountable for assigned duties, keep patient information and personnel information confidential. 2. Interpersonal Skills: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and recognize problems and seek assistance. Accept direction from supervisor with a positive attitude. 3. Education: Participate in required hospital-wide training events. 4. Quality Improvement: Contribute to the success of the organization by participating in councils, task forces, and committees as needed and requested. Quality of work will be characterized by striving for excellence in every task. The amount of work completed will be appropriate and reasonable. Job Requirements Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Capable of learning and effectively using the ESI information system for Materials Management. 3. Is able to work quickly and accurately, to make independent decisions and prioritize work. 4. Can effectively communicate with co-workers 5. Expresses commitment to providing good customer service when dealing with staff, vendors and other departments.
