Under the general supervision of the Tax Supervisor. The Tax Specialist is responsible for analysis of the sales and tax collection data, preparing timely sales and payroll tax returns, preparation of reconciliation of year end returns and W2 forms Required: Excel, Word and ten key proficient Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned projects to meet deadlines Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers and tax authorities Self-motivated; ability to take on assigned tasks with minimal supervision Responsibilities: 1) Sales and Use Tax Review tax publications for change in tax law and/or rates. Notify appropriate party of sales tax rate changes to ensure proper collection and preserve cash flow. Retrieve AP invoices for review of applicable use taxes, Generate sales tax reports and prepare sales tax returns for various tax jurisdictions. Examines reports and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws and regulations. Reconcile over/under sales tax collection differences Correspond with tax jurisdictions as required to resolve outstanding issues. 2) Payroll tax Review and/or pay Federal and State withholding tax information daily to ensure timely deposits Prepare all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns required. Reconcile all withholding taxes on a monthly and annual basis. Reconcile and prepare annual returns in preparation for yearend process of W2's and related returns. Correspond with tax jurisdictions as required to resolve outstanding issues.
